Andaman Rising, initiated by Kenan Institute Asia and UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication, tell 15 stories about life after tsunami in Phang-Nga and Phuket provinces.
By the salty docks of Phang-nga they found stories of determination. In Buddhist temples they found tradition. On boats and in schools and on the streets of tiny villages, they found surprises, sadness, laughter and hope.
These stories capture diverse Thai lifestyles very well. The contexts are well attached enhancing the richness of cultural and spiritual function of Thai community. Additionally, all of them are visually attractive.
My favorite one, so far, is Nine Lenses Nine Lives which tell a story about a project that gave cameras to children to record their lives and such. I am personally quite impressed with the way these nine kids took photos. Some of them are very good, well captured what they think and what is going on in their lives. However, all of the photos done by this group of children together illustrate what this community look like as one story.
