Technology replace Radiologists?

Due to a shortage of radiologists in the US, “a team from Columbia University Medical Center in New York has shown that digitised scans can be transmitted securely and quickly over broadband internet for experts in other centres to read”.

At first, I think it’s nonsense to introduce technology due to lack of human expert. I still prefer in face-to-face discussion. But anyway, does this mean the number of IT professional will increase, while the radiologists will be short. That doesn’t sound a good equation for me.
