It has been highly criticized on Thai ICT minister’s comments about open source accompanied with an open letter by open source supporters. (see also: my previous entry)
According to Thairath, Dr.Sitthichai said it might be his misunderstanding and unclear speech. He said he did not have enough time to talk about it. The open source he meant on that day was those software applications that have been developed by a couple of people and not been maintained regularly. He realized that there are a number of groups and associations working on open source. Thus, the government is ready to support open source.
The representatives from open source groups and association will have an official meeting with the minister on Tuesday 21.
However, there is no clarification on other aspects, including e-book and e-society.
