SNS for Emergency

Ben Shneiderman and Jennifer Preece, HCI and online community gurus at the University of Maryland, applied the social networking sites approach to buid a new emergency system, according to New Scientist.

B. J. Fogg, from Stanford, commented that “it may be more practical to make use existing social networking sites, such as MySpace or Facebook“, which I quite agree with. However, if we want to use the existing social networking sites, one might further question how existing users of SNS communicated in emergency situations. In another word, what is the role of SNS in emergency situations?
